The following was what happened in court and all grammar mistakes and sounds made are as it is:



4 Deputy Public Prosecutors: Ms Quah, were you at Hong Lim Park on the 27 of September 2014?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Yes, I was, I was there at the event because I was part of the planning committee and managing the application for the venue as well as facilitating the guest of honor.

4 Deputy Public Prosecutors: You did the application for this event?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I book an email to Nparks personnel Sim Bee Lan in April on the second.

4 Deputy Public Prosecutors: How do you feel about this other group’s conduct on that day?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I think that it was unexpected, after the event erm after the guest of honor left, I felt a little traumatized.

Han Hui Hui: During 27 September, other than Teo Ser Luck, did you have any contact with any parent or children?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: No, I didn’t.

Han Hui Hui: Did you tell anyone else that you were traumatized?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I only went back to tell my family.

Han Hui Hui: Why didn’t you seek help from any psychiatrist?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Because I don’t think it was a very big thing.

Han Hui Hui: Could the sounds be from the speakers?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm maybe.

Han Hui Hui: You’re not sure whether the sound is from the crowd or from the speaker right?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm yes I’m not sure.

Han Hui Hui: Only one person shouting very loudly while the rest were quiet right?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Oh erm I think normal that wouldn’t be possible I remember it was there were quite a lot of noises.

Han Hui Hui: So these noises that you heard were probably from about how many people, two people talking to each other?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: No, definitely not two people.

Han Hui Hui: It was a very large crowd right?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Yes.

Han Hui Hui: The situation was very intense because a large crowd that was uncontrollable got very emotional when Teo Ser Luck arrived at Hong Lim Park on 27 September 2014 is that right?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Your honor, I’m not sure whether the guest of honor was the triggering factor or the cause of the intensified atmosphere.

Han Hui Hui: That means the atmosphere did not change when Teo Ser Luck came?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm yes it did change.

Han Hui Hui: Did the atmosphere change and become intensified when Teo Ser Luck arrived at Hong Lim Park on 27 September 2014?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm yes.

Han Hui Hui: You said that I was leading the march, how did I lead the march?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm actually I didn’t say that you were leading the march because actually when I erm erm I couldn’t see.

Han Hui Hui: Can I conclude that you were unable to see me leading the march from the stage?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Erm yes.

Han Hui Hui: Did you see any police officers on 27 September?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I think I only saw them the earlier part of the event before the guest of honor's arrival

Han Hui Hui: How many officers did you see?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I cannot remember.

Han Hui Hui: Did they approach you and talk to you?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Yes they did.

Janet: Just now you were saying you apply your approval through email so when did you get a formal approval from them?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: The official email came in 9 September.

Janet: Can we request for a copy of this written approval?

Janet: Just now you mentioned the Nparks officers have approached you, what did he talk to you?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: He asked me are you aware there’s another event going on that day.

Janet: When did you submit your plan to Nparks?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: I submitted this sketch in April.

Janet: When you know there is another event, did you ask for barricades?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: Why bother.

Janet: Did you request for police to be there?
Tia Quah Siew Jian: No, I didn’t request.

Who to vote for in my first Singapore Presidential Election?

For the first time in my life, I will have the chance to vote during Singapore’s Presidential Election. Although Singapore had 4 elected presidents and this coming election is for the 5th president, there were only two elections being held. The first election was in 1993 and the president elected was Ong Teng Cheong with 58.69% of the votes from 952,513 voters, while the second election was in 2011 and the president elected was Tony Tan Keng Yam with 35.20% of the votes from 745,693 voters.
