My response to the Singapore government Ministry of Home Affairs' statement against me.
MHA:
First, Ms Han was not subjected to a strip search as she had claimed. She was searched by a female officer and had remained clothed for the entire duration.
Second, her allegation that male officers had walked past while she was being searched is untrue. Ms Han was based in the women's wing of the lock-up, which is not accessible to male officers. A privacy screen is also deployed when a search is in progress.
What I posted on my blog:
“Even socks were taken away from us and we were made to sit on the cold concrete floor.”(Note: The MHA statement only said "State Court" - I was "body searched" in both the High Court and the State Court).
“There was supposed to be screen used but they simply put it there for show rather than really using it.”
MHA:
Third, the allegation that Malaysian APOs (hired by SPS) had made disparaging comments against Singaporeans is unfounded. In addition, the team overseeing the lock-up consists of Prisons officers supported by both Singaporean and Malaysian APOs.
What I posted on my blog:
“The toilet is the old squatting kind.
At a height about 1.7m, there is a button where once pressed, water will shoot out from a pipe at the same level.
In order to drink the water, you’ve to tilt your head upwards and stick out your tongue.
This is why they say you got to “lap up the sky juice”, is it humane?”
MHA:
Fourth, Ms Han's allegation that detainees were not given toiletries after relieving themselves is also untrue. Upon request, toilet paper is made available to detainees.
What I posted on my blog:
“They said that there’s no tissue in prison but there’ll be soap.
No, there is no soap at all.
No soap, no towel, no mattress, no blanket, just cold concrete floor.”
MHA:
Fifth, Ms Han was provided with lunch during her temporary custody.
What I posted on my blog:
“At about 2:30pm, my lunch came, finally.
It was a packet of cold food.
50% cauliflower, 40% mushy rice, 5% tofu (1cm by 2cm by 2cm) and 5% hot dog (5cm long).
They poured chili all over it, they didn’t even ask if you’re allergic to it and if you’re able to take spicy food.”
Will the Singapore government show all 4 CCTVs of me being searched?
I was searched at the high court before I was shackled in the court room.
I was searched at the high court basement before I was brought into the cell.
I was searched at the state court before I entered the woman wing.
I was searched at the state court basement before I entered the cell room.
The 4 CCTVs will show
1. No privacy screen was used in all four searches.
2. The searches are humiliating and I nearly fell in one of the searches.
3. Male police officers even looked at me from outside the gate and smirked while I was being searched.
Will the Singapore government show all 5 CCTVs of me in the cell?
They locked me up at the basement of the High Court.
They locked me up at the basement of the State Court with juveniles.
They locked me up at the basement of the State Court with the first group of adults.
They locked me up at the basement of the State Court with the second group of adults.
They locked me up in solitary confinement.
The 5 CCTVs will show that
1. I asked for toilet paper but they refused to give me any toiletries.
2. The officers laughed and shouted at me to use my hands.
Why did they put me in the cruel solitary confinement at the High Court?
Why did they put me in the cruel solitary confinement at the State Court too?
