CHILD ABUSE in Singapore shot up 459% despite signing UNCRC
Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) revealed that the number of investigations into child abuse cases shot up 459% from 383 in 2012 to 2,141 in 2021 despite signing United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)
On 28 June 2024, a 53-year-old private-hire driver pleaded guilty to one count of assault after feeling unhappy when he heard that his son had been kicked to the extent that his son’s left groin had redness, he confronted his child’s six-year-old classmate and punched the boy in the face.
What kind of society is Singapore to have adults treating our children in such a manner to the extent of leaving permanent scars in their lives?

According to the government propaganda, the increase in the number of child abuse cases is because "the Children and Young Persons Act amendment came into effect in July 2020, so those who are 16 and older but under 18 will now be part of the statistics on child abuse"
Is the government trying to say that child abuse cases for children below the age of 16 did not increase as most of the abuses are against children between the age of 16 and 18?
Or is the government trying to cover up the main cause of abuse which is stress of the abusers due to high cost of living that resulted in the vicious cycle of child abuse and abusing others?
In addition, the number of child abuse cases investigated by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) increased more than 7% from 137 cases in 2022 to 147 in 2023.
What about child abuse cases NOT investigated by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) due to lack of manpower?
Or child abuse cases NOT reported due to cover up of the schools or due to negligence of parents?

On 2 July 2024, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli said in parliament that "The increase in the number of investigations and substantiated child mismanagement cases can be attributed to increased vigilance and awareness of appropriate reporting channels among parents and educators."
Does it mean that previously there was little vigilance and awareness regarding child abuse in Singapore despite Singapore acceded to the UNCRC in October 1995?
Or does it mean that there weren't much reporting channels among parents and educators regarding child abuse?

Could this situation be avoided?
Why was the teacher not there when the boy was kicked till his groin had redness?
Why did they not reveal the CCTV footages or explain to the parents who really conspired but left the parents to handle the situation themselves?
Why are the parents’ first reaction to physically injure others, is violence ingrained in Singapore’s society since the law does allow for both capital punishment and corporal punishment?
Do we not have any compassion when dealing with children as young as six-year-old?
A month before that, a 43-year-old woman was charged on May 24 with one count of ill-treating a child under her care under the Children and Young Persons Act for "stabbing" a six-year-old boy repeatedly with a pen at a childcare centre, leaving marks on his face and scalp.
The boy was in her care at about 3pm on Nov 16, 2022 at the childcare centre when she allegedly stabbed his head several times with a pen. As a result, the boy suffered a 1cm-long abrasion on his scalp, a 2cm-long abrasion over his eyebrow ridge and a 1.5cm-long abrasion over his scalp.

Wouldn't it be better if public resources are used to prevent child abuse in Singapore instead of political persecution?
Wouldn't it be better if we are a country that protects our children and future generation rather than always silencing people who are raise issues with a hope for change?
